What's in the news today Evelyn?

Evelyn has always loved books and there have been so many times where we will catch her in a corner or in her room up on her bed or snuggled up on the couch with a book reading outloud (in her own language) and I just smile because it's so cute to see her get so focused! Well one morning I brought in the paper and put it on the kitchen table and then I went upstairs and when I came back down I found Evelyn had climed up in her seat and she had opened up the newspaper and she was just sitting at the table reading the paper. I snuck the camera out and captured the moment! It was just too cute to see her up there reading the paper like an adult!!

Grandma Time

I forogt I took these cute pics of my mom and the girls when she was here visiting last week. She loves her grandkids and they love her! Claire would just stare at her and smile and Evelyn just wanted Grandma to play with her - not mommy!! It is the best to sit back and watch Grandma get her quality time with her grandbabies!! We love you mom/grandma!!!

Cute Kiddos

This is going to be one of those posts that will make me cry when I look back years from now and read. I just have to say how much I love my kids!! I love being a mom and looking into their happy faces every day! The smiles they give me just brighten the room and make my day. They remind me how important it is to take the time to love on them and play with them and just enjoy them every day. They complete me and I can't imagine life without them! I love you Evelyn and Claire!!

Carolina Beach

Last week/weekend we decided to go to the beach. It was so much fun!!! It rained the whole drive down there and then the next day when we woke up we had a perfect sunny day and it stayed perfect and sunny the whole time! LOVE IT! We had a room at the Courtyard on Carolina Beach and we were right on the water. Since we got there before the weekend started, we had the entire beach practically to ourselves - and the hotel's pool. The water was in the 70's and Evelyn had a blast getting knocked over by the waves and playing in the sand. Claire was a trooper being so small she had to be held a lot, but thankfully Grandma and Grandpa were there to help out.

We went to the aquarium and that was the coolest thing to Evelyn. She loved looking at the fish and she got to see a sting-ray and some crabs and shells up close. She was so fascinated with all the tanks and aquariums of fish - she especially liked "Nemo".

We all probably gained 10lbs just from this one doughnut shop we found. This place makes the best doughnut I have ever eaten - and I have had my share of doughnuts!!! It's called Britt's Doughnut Shop and he started making just glazed doughnuts since 1939 and that is the ONLY kind of doughnut he makes - glazed. He serves them HOT and FRESH and they just melt in your mouth!! We went there a few times (shouldn't have, but we did) and every time we went there was a line out the door to get a doughnut!! It didn't even matter what time of day it was - he was serving glazed doughnuts all day long!! They were the best!!

On our last day there, I decided to free myself of both kids and go and play in the water. I was in the ocean maybe 5 minutes when I felt instant pain around my left ankle. I didn't know what in the heck it was, but it stung!! I slowly walked out of the water and with each step I felt the throbbing getting worse. I finally made it to shore - Gordon and some other beach people came to my rescue and my ankle was inflamed and red and in one spot bleeding! Everyone determined I was attacked by a jelly-fish. OUCH! They told us to stop the poison from the tentacles we should pour vinegar on it. So we made it up to our room and the hotel manager brought us vinegar and Gordon had to clean it really well - talk about BURN and PAIN!!

Thankfully I did not have an allergic reaction to the sting and today it is healing very quickly!! I am glad it happened to me and not Evelyn who was 100% of the time playing in the water and I am glad it happened on our last day so it didn't ruin all the fun!!

Thanks grandma and grandpa for a great trip! We can't wait to see you again!!!

Little Accomplishments

Claire Abigail at 6 months

I love every stage that babies go through, but a favorite of mine has to be when a baby can grab their own foot and bring it to their mouth to bite on!! SO CUTE!

I have been meaning to do this post for a while now, but videos just take way too long to load so I always run out of patience. Well, I finally got around to waiting it out and post it. This is Evelyn doing her first somersault. She's been bending over on her head forever and just finally flipped herself over into a somersault. She thought it was so fun - she hasn't stopped doing them!!

Families Are Forever

Today was a special day for some little boys in our extended family "O" and "W" (initials are used for privacy) are adopted and today was that momentous occasion where they were finally sealed to their mom and dad and sister. Being in the temple with our family is always such a joy to me and even more so when there are children involved. What a special ordinance it is to witness a family being sealed together. I am so grateful to know Heavenly Father's plan for us and that we can be families forever. We are so blessed to have these little boys in our family and we are thankful to have shared this day with them! We love you guys!!!!

Grandpa Visit

I love that no matter how short or long time goes by between visits from my parents - Evelyn remembers her Grandpa and she LOVES her Grandpa!! My dad was in town this weekend and he got to spend time with his adorable grandkids. Claire gave him lots of smiles and Evelyn made sure to climb on top of him and wrestle with him and give lots of kisses and hugs too! She loves her "Krwa-pa"!!

Thanks for a great time and we can't wait for the next visit dad!!

Helping Hands

Saturday we had the opportunity to do service in our community as Mormon Helping Hands. It was a great experience to share with Evelyn. We got up SO EARLY and headed to the stake center for donuts and juice and then we were given yellow jerseys to wear with the above logo on it so when people saw us they would know we were from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We were asked to visit several of the parks in our community and pick up trash. Some parks we went to were over 100 acres!! That's a lot of ground to cover!! Evelyn was a super big helper going around and finding trash pieces and putting them in trash bags. She was also so cute finding every little wild flower there was and she would pick her flowers and carry them around with her. We were out in our community from about 7:30am until about 11:30am - it was a beautiful day for service and we feel like awesome parents raising Evelyn to understand the importance of serving others and keeping our parks clean and safe places.

I guess it's true. If you read the previous post, you can probably guess what I am about to say. I got caught on tape 'snoring' and I heard myself with my own ears! EMBARRASSING!!!



Although, it's not like this loud, bear roar snore- it's this cute, little, stuffy snore and very feminine I might add!! ;) But true none the less and I don't like it even if I do sound adorable.

Gordon's Experiment

First off, let me tell you all a little bit about myself. When I was a baby, I had a tendancy to breathe loudly when I slept. Some people might say that I snored, but since I am a girl and girls just don't do that we say that I wheezed. I earned the nick name Wheezer and it has stuck with me ever since.

Well I have been married for almost 8 years now and in these 8 blissful years, never once has my husband mentioned that I disturb his slumber with my ... wheezing. So naturally, I think to myself that I have, in fact, out grown this special trait of mine and I have no worries - right? Wrong. He proceeds to tell me the other day that I was snoring the other night and he had to shove me to wake me up so that I would stop snoring. I was appalled! "What? I don't snore!" I said. He said "oh, yes you do!" and then he snickered!! THE NERVE!

Since that dreadful conversation, he has been sceeming to catch me on tape in my sleep. Last night, I fell asleep before him so before he went to bed, he set his trap...he placed a recorder by my bedside with a blank cassette in it and pushed the record button. So, I lay victim to his little experiment, sleeping away into the dead of the night while the little black recorder kept recording and recording as I slept.
This morning, he tells me what he has done and I am so afraid of what he might have caught on tape last night. "Maybe I do snore" I think to myself...and how embarassing is that?!? The moment of truth finally arrives. He brings me the recorder, rewinds it to the beginning and pushes play....

.....
.....
eh-em. I am not saying I didn't hear some ...heavy breathing, but I also sleep with a fan on and all I could hear was the soft buzzing sound of the fan.
"Curses!" he shouts. And then tells me that he'll just have to try again another night without the fan on.
So the mystery continues...does Jamie really snore?? I THINK NOT! But I will continue to be Gordon's little experiment until he proves me wrong. Hopefully, that day will not come!
MUUUUHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

SUPER DUPER WEEKEND!

We started our weekend off with a night of fun at Camp Hagan Stone. We met up with some friends of ours. It was nice because one of the families has a little girl Evelyn's age and they play so well together! They had a blast chasing each other and playing ball and just running around the camp site and at the park there. We had a great camp fire where we roasted marshmellows and made smores. We had such a great time and we can't wait to do it again!

Easter Sunday was the best. We had an awesome sacrament meeting full of beautiful music from our ward choir and the messages were all about our Saviour. It was a great day of reflection on our Savior filled with the spirit and reminders of everything He went through for us. We felt spiritually fed and really enjoyed church.

When we got home we were able to give the girls some Easter presents from my parents. Grandpa and Grandma got the girls a little something special for Easter and we took some great pictures of the girls receiving their gifts. THANKS GRANDMA AND GRANDPA!! WE LOVE YOU!

After Easter gifts from the grandparents, we got a special Easter dinner ready. We invited the Lindsay family over for dinner at our house. Several of them were out of town this weekend - including mom and dad Lindsay - so we were afraid a family dinner wouldn't happen since they weren't here, so we had it at our house. Mel and her boys, Arminda and Lindsay and Rachel and Ryan came over to our house for dinner and dessert. We had a great time and we reminisced about when they were all little kids at home acting out Palm Sunday - good times!!

Since I hit that "100 Posts" milestone...I'm thinkin' "WHY STOP?"


We attempted a family picture today. It was gorgeous outside when we looked out the window, the weatherman said it was going to be sunny and warm all day, so we got all dolled up and went out to take our picture. We didn't account for the gusts of wind that we had today though. There was just a couple of pics that came out when the winds died down long enough to take a decent shot...other than that, all the rest of them look like I stuck my finger in the socket and got electricuted...oh well our family is still the cutest!!!

FIRSTS

Claire is growing so fast! She is 5 months old now and has been hitting those milestones right on target. She is rolling over and lifting herself up. She has a tooth - one of the bottom front ones. And she has started solids and is having a LOVE/HATE relationship with her rice cereal!

But it's all fun!
