Two kids = BUSY!

I AM ALIVE!!! Shame on me for not posting!! I have tried though - for the last 20 days I have attempted to post something new...but every attempt ended with a baby crying for a feeding, someone needed a diaper change, Evelyn re-booting the computer because her busy fingers kept pushing the buttons...etc!! I am determined to finally get this post finished without interruption!!

Claire is beautiful and is changing everyday. We blessed Claire a week after she was born because my parents were in town and we wanted Grandpa to stand in the circle. My mom has stayed with us for the last 2 weeks and she left this morning - boohoooo! So, today was my first day officially alone as a new mommy of two! I got up, I fed the girls, I showered, I got ready for the day...and all this was done before 10am! Not bad for my first day alone. I didn't realize (until today) how BUSY Evelyn is. That child is into everything! She is a great big sister and loves to be mommy's helper with the baby.

Our little girl finally decided to join our family! Claire Abigail was born Saturday, November 1st at 8:07am. She weighed in at 6 lbs 5 oz and 20 inches long. She is healthy and beautiful and we are amazed at how much our capacity to love another little person has increased.

If you haven't noticed, I have gone a little "post" crazy! Too much time on my hands - Not in the hospital yet - No new baby to take care of - NOTHING! I wake up each morning feeling like I could run hurdles around the block!! What is the deal?! I am 4 days away from my due date and I know, I know...some of you are thinking - "Oh, just be patient." BUT I CAN'T! I have planned so many activites for myself this week so that I can get up and walk around, carry Evelyn, go up and down stairs and nothing is working to get this baby moving towards the light! So, here I am - a sitting duck, with too much time on my hands!!!

Trunk-Or-Treat

It was Trunk-or-Treat night for our ward tonight and it was FREEZING! But we bundled up and went out anyways. It was outside in the church parking lot and everyone's trunk was lit up with orange lights, had scary music playing, spider webs, adults in crazy costumes...it was a blast! We pulled into the parking lot and Evelyn started going nuts in her seat she was so excited to get out and run around.

She looked so adorable in her costume and she did a great job carrying around her pumpkin bucket to fill with candy. By the end of the night, she was perfecting saying "trunk-or-treat", but it still needs some work for Friday night. Enjoy the slide show of our Pirate Princess.

FUN WEEKEND!

FIRST...

We went to visit Gordon's Grandpa Leatherman for Family Fun Night. We got to eat dinner with him and then we were entertained by a great pianist, Lynn Gentry, for about an hour. Evelyn danced the night away and stole the show. Since it was mostly senior citizens, she was the high-light of their night. They loved to see her dance and be silly...her Great Grandpa loved it too! The whole night, he was so proud to introduce her as his "GREAT Granddaughter".

SECOND...

We went to our house lot and WOW there is so much being done! We can't keep up. Two weekends ago when we went last (I didn't get time to post pictures of the development of the house then ) but this is what we saw then...

And this is what we saw on Saturday...

It's like a REAL HOUSE!!!!!! They have the fireplace in, the tubs and showers, the plumbing... and the electrical is being done this week! YIPEEE!!

THIRD...

Evelyn learned how to mow the yard. Daddy and Evelyn were working in the yard on Saturday after it quit raining and she was right there pushing the mower with dad. She had a blast!

House Update...

So we hadn't heard anything about the house in a week (we're impatient, I know!) but since we hadn't heard anything we decided not to make the drive this weekend to check it out.

Well, immediatly following church, we both had the same thing on our minds - "Should we drive out there just to see...?" We got pumped and we ran home to grab lunch on the go for Evelyn and then we loaded up in the car again to drive out to our dirt lot.

I always get butterflies of excitement just driving down the street to our house and today was worth the trip! We came around the bend and we see our brick coloumns are up and the foundation done! WOW! Our brick is so pretty!! Then, we see this huge pile of wood and we're like "THAT'S OUR FRAMING!" Our guess is that they will begin framing the house this week!! Oh My Goodness! We are tickeled pink to see the fun progress!

Mmmmm...Dark Chocolate!

I died my hair! It's totally dark - no more blonde! I love it - love it - love it!

6 Quirky Things about me:

1. I can't fall asleep without my husband in bed with me. Even if I am dead tired, I will entertain myself on the computer or read or even stay up to watch him play his video games until he comes to bed. On the flip side - he's not allowed to fall asleep without me. If he is tired and I am not - I refuse to let him go to bed without me until I am ready. I just like falling asleep together - it makes me happy.

2. I am a picker - meaning if I see a zit or in-grown hair or anything that just need to be removed to make skin smooth again - I have to get it! Even if it is not on my own body!! My poor husband suffers from my wrath to painful ends! MUAHAHAHAHAH! (evil laugh)

3. Why is my closet a pigsty and my daughter's closet is in perfect order? Clothes on hangers - color coordinated and by seasons, shoes in order, dresses and outfits facing the same way on the hanger...it happens in her dresser too...PJ's and socks are even organized. One day, my closet and drawers will be just like hers. I wonder if this will last when baby #2 comes along??

4. I can't sleep without a fan going. I need the constant HUMMMMMM of the fan to fall asleep to. I have a travel fan that I take with me when I travel so I am never without the noise. Even in the freezing cold nights of winter - yep, the fan is on full blast!

5. I love to drive! Sometimes I will just get in the car to go for a drive. I love it because I can have the car all to myself (well, Evelyn is usually with me) and no one is there to interrupt my thoughts. I have the radio off and I just get quiet time to myself to contemplate life. I think about the most random things and most of the time it's the things that I need to improve on, but I love the quietness of a good 30 minute drive all by myself!

6. I have to do the check book. Gordon brings home the bacon and I record it, balance it, spend it, save it...whatever! I have to be in charge though. The weird part is - I HATE DOING IT! But even though over the last 7 years he has asked time and time again to take it off my hands - I just can't let him do it. I have to be in control of the check book!!! No touchy!

House Update

This last weekend we went out to our lot to see if any progress had been made after they cleared it and we have cement!!! They have poured the concrete trenches for the outline of the house and they are getting ready to lay the foundation with the cinder blocks and the brick we picked out. It's SO exciting to see things moving right along! Is it January yet?!?!?!

36 week belly

I know there's a baby in there - but whoa tubby tubby!

What's wrong with me?? Oh yeah, I am pregnant!

So I had a GIRL moment last night and tell me why I no matter what a husband says to console his wife in her despair, that sometimes it all just sounds like a bunch of FLUFF! (no offense honey) - but seriously!!
I am GREAT with child and all last week Gordon was out of town on business. He was gone from Sunday to Friday night and so all week long I am bottling up emotions that I would normally get to dump on him when he got home from work. I have been feeling just crummy. I am not sleeping soundly, if I am awake it's because of multiple trips to the potty because the baby is jumping up and down on my bladder! My feet are swollen, my fingers are swollen - we'll just call them sausages - and my wedding ring hasn't fit me in months! My back hurts, I feel heavy and tired all the time and HOT - DID SOMEONE TURN UP THE HEAT!?!
So, I had a boost of harmones and finally had an emotional breakdown - "I'm fat. I'm ugly. I'm tired. You don't love me. Star Wars is more important than me to you...." My poor husband!
So, he tried his best to give me words of encouragement and after about 30 minutes of FLUFF - I am crying and say "can't you just hold me and be quiet?" So he does and I fall asleep in his arms. I feel better this morning - still swollen and hot - but better. I think I just need to have this baby and then go get my hair done!!! I am sure my husband will feel better when this is all over too!
